- Abstract (DE)
Dies erfolgte mittels Raman-Spektroskopie an CuI-Einkristallen und CuBrₓI₁₋ₓ-Dünnschichten.

- In the present work, the p-type wide-bandgap semiconductor copper iodide (CuI) is characterized with respect to vibrational coupling mechanisms. This is done via Raman spectroscopy by using solution grown single crystals as well as pulsed laser deposition grown thin films. By choice of different incident photon energies, in the first part the non-resonant regime is analyzed while in the second part resonat interactions in CuI’s absorptive regime are probed. Within the non-resonant regime, the temperature dependence of the fundamental TO and LO phonons are analyzed in detail and described by harmonic and anharmonic contributions. This is similarly extended for second-order Raman scattering signals. Thereby, the most relevant phonon dispersion features and their anharmonicities were determined. This was again supported by DFT calculations. Finally, the relative anharmonicity of zone-center and zone-edge phonons in CuI was compared. As well within the non-resonant reginme, the CuBrₓI₁₋ₓ alloy system was investigated. A present non-linearity was observed for the TO mode. A modification of the MREI model was proposed, to significantly improve the description of experimental observation. The respective adjustments were based on the reported ”eigenvector reversal” for CuBr and implemented by an exchange of mass assignments. This was motivated within the MREI model and sucessfully shown to be in line with other present publications. The last part considered the regime of resonant Raman scattering, by using incident photon energies close to CuI’s split-off band energies on single crystal samples. The observed narrow multiphonon Raman signal and the broad photoluminescence signal were analyzed with respect to their dependence on sample temperature, incident laser power, incident photon energy and Ag-doping. Deviation with respect to the non-resonant excitation regime were pointed out and discussed. The interpretation of the experimental observations based on the cascade model for nLO phonon mediated exciton scattering. Nevertheless, some peculiarities were observed with respect to the intensity distribution of n-LO modes and their temperature dependence. Within consideration of earlier publications, a model was proposed for the resonant Raman scattering process at CuI’s split-off band. This included the assumption of additional scattering contributions due to excited excitonic states and is indeed in line with CuI’s intrinisc material parameters. The relevance and implication of this observation with respect to other well known semiconductors is discussed.
