- Diese These befasst sich mit den aragonitischen Skeleten von Riffkorallen (Scleractinia) und präsentiert Kalzifikationsmuster (skeletale Dichte, Extensionsrate und Kalzifikationsrate) sowie Umweltproxydaten (18O, 13C, Li/Mg, Ba/Ca) von Proben aus Umgebungen mit natürlich niedriger Aragonitsättigung des Meerwassers (sw) und hohen Nährstoffkonzentrationen. Bei den untersuchten Proben handelt es sich um rezente Riffkorallen (Porites) aus der Upwelling-Zone des Arabischen Meeres (Sultanat von Oman) sowie um fossile Riffkorallen aus dem Känozoikum (Eozän, Miozän-Pleistozän; unterschiedliche Taxa). Die dokumentierten Kalzifikationsmuster ermöglichen präzisere Vorhersagen zur zukünftigen Kalzifikation von Riffkorallen unter dem globalen Wandel respektive Ozeanversauerung und Eutrophierung. Eine neu entwickelte Beprobungsmethode zur Erstellung hoch aufgelöster 13C und 18O Datenreihen, sowie Untersuchungen hinsichtlich des Einflusses eines niedrigen sw auf die Temperaturproxies 18O und Li/Mg tragen maßgeblich zur Verbesserung Proxy basierter Umweltrekonstruktionen anhand von Riffkorallen bei.
